Hi folks,

New member and my first post! My name is Bill and I'm a Flashaholic.

I've been using those plastic handheld clamp type of battery testers and wondering about accuracy and reliability. I want to either buy or build a tester that will check my alkaline and rechargeable AA's, AAA's, CR2's, CR123a's and most importantly my 14500's and 18650's. Can someone help me navigate the possibilities? I'm quite comfortable with bulding such a rig if it comes to that.

I did search the forums and wasn't able to find much. Which surprises me, I expected this topic to have been thoroughly examined here. Maybe I didn't search the right terms and such...

Many thanks,
-Bill

For relatively complete battery testing, I would suggest both a voltmeter (or DMM) and a "load tester".

The voltmeter / DMM need not be too fancy or expensive.

For the load tester, ZTS makes several different versions, each of which tests a different range of cells.
