Id like to run the HID/lens set-up, without the bulky battery compartment; off a waist mounted Lithium M/Cycle battery for hunting. That way I can mount the light under the barrel or forestock. Is that possible by just wiring the battery through a switch to the terminals of the light?

Yes you can, what are the spec of the battery and which hid setup are you going to run?

It's one of the '85w' flashlights that sell all over including ebay.
I havn't got many details. Ballast input 9-16 volts.
7800 lumens.
Not much I know.
All I want is the forward part of the flashlight on the rifle with a trailing lead to the battery at my waist.
