Well, HDS #17 really went by pretty quickly. Anybody have any preference of the 219A over the 219B led?

Are we still moderating the post number to within 1000 per thread now? I thought this was in force because the older software had problems when the post count got too much, but the newer software is capable of handling it from what I understand? Anyway, I am now subscribed to this thread :)

I think my last question slipped by. Is there any way to clean a rotary tail?
I have some grit/sand in it and I hate that feeling and sound.
Oh yea, I also wanted to get in on the first page..haha.
Thanks, DB

Ok so I can get into customisation mode and if anyone could assist me from here ,
i would like to turn on in tactical mode , double click for emergency strobe, double click again for SOS, and triple click for moonlight low.
from any mode, when I fully press in it will momentary hit high.

Is this possible?.

Thanks lots.

I think you might have a few too many modes there.

Mode A = Max
Mode B (Turn on)= Tactical Mode (not sure what you mean by that)
Mode C (Double Click)= Strobe OR SOS, don't think you can both on the same mode
Mode D (Triple Click)= Low (Moonlight)

That would be pretty easy to do.

Anyone using the red as a nightlight?

I donno, but during Christmas I guess a person could hook it up to an i-pod so it'll blink along with the Christmas music. ... :naughty:

You could do what ShineOnYouCrazDiamond did to his Rotary's tail cap (see HDS Systems EDC #17, p. 33, post #977, second floor, third isle to your right). However I ain't that good (probably break the dang light), so if it was me, I'd send it back to Henry for servicing / cleaning.

I'm not sure, but maybe rinsing it under running water? The electronics are potted anyway.

Lots of great information, opinions, and pics in the last thread. Hate to see it obscured from new users who jump into this thread as it was all pretty current, the thread wasn't even 3 weeks old.
If you've just jumped in, it's worth hitting the link to #17 in the first post by JS at the top of this page.
Covered the Hyper-Hogo-Red edition, ShineOn posted some pics of his cool snakeskin holster, lots of other hogo holsters, bunch of lanyard talk, nice review from 880ARM, etc.

The index.
Lanyards.
880ARM review.
Holsters.
Shines' SNakeskin Holster.
Talk of a headlamp!
Hogo shoots a flashlight.
Lovely Prometheus clip.
The worst smartphone wallpaper ever.

Thanks guys, pops like you I'm afraid to even attempt that. However, I HOPE to goodness I don't have to send this light in just to get sand out of the rotary. I have been extremely careful not to set it down or haven't dropped it or anything. As careful as I've been, it still happened and may be a regular occurrence. So, I'd either have to tough it out, or Henry may have my light more than I have my light. Not sure how it got in there, but sand/salt gets in crazy places while on the beach :nasty: ..lol
I may try running water into the rotary. Hope there's a simpler trick than sending it in. May be another point for the clicky team, but I absolutely love the simplicity of the rotary. I'm definitely not looking for reasons to switch to a clicky yet.

Just 1 quick question to Hogo regarding the 140 lm model.
Is HDS planning to use the Nichia 219a again in the future (to produce the 140 lm version) ?
Or will HDS only concentrate on the 219b (for the 170 neutral) ?

I agree, I'm from the Islands (as well as living in a desert State, e.g. caught in a dang sand storm) so I understand what you mean about sand (especially that fine sand) and salt getting into stuff.

I would think the first o-ring in the Rotary's tail cap (IIR correctly reading ShineOn's post) would keep small debris from entering the space between the two o-rings, and or working it's way into the interior of tail cap.

I carry (EDC) and use my Rotary (first generation (?)) nightly (presently being used heavily during the first two hours or so when I start my night. Twisting the tail cap and clicking it on or in momentary at least a couple of hundred plus times). However, in regards to the elements, a side from the few of my clumsy moments over the years when it saw dirt. The most it sees, aside from dust and sand being blown around in high to very high strong winds, is being used while in a heavy down pour (monsoon season in AZ). All is, and has been very well with the tail cap.
