I'm trying to figure out which minimag drop-in module to buy... (everybody here already knows stock minimags SUCK!) I would like one with BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT and at least 1 hour of full power runtime, that drains the batteries to near dead... (I'm not interested in one that gives reduced power for hours after the full power runs out...) Also, a flood type beam versus a tight spot would be preferred. Because of the high costs of these units,($40.00 and up...) I want to make sure I get the best one on my first purchase. Is there such an animal readily available??? Or am I wishing for too much???

Mike,

Can you give us a link? When I go to your home page there is no information and there are no links, except PayPal and the like. Thanks.

Unless there's a new design, the Inretech modules are direct drive Luxeon modules. They have much longer runtime than converter sandwiches, but are much less bright. If you get one, you really want to use L91 AA lithium cells with it, not ordinary alkaline cells.

If you want a bright flood beam, get a sandwich (probably Madmax WO is the brightest) and a McFlood reflector. It's a very nice combination and works fine on regular alkalines.

My question re: the 3 Watt is for Direct Driving the Inretech simple non-circuit module with 3 X 1.25V NiMH.

The Inretech is a minimag drop-in. AFAIK there are no three cell minimags.

How do I drive a 2 cell minimag with 3 cells?
-by simply using 3 of my 2/3 AA NiMH in the barrel-with a small spacer.
p.s.-I am already well aware of what the Inretech module is.

Well, there's one now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just completed it in order to squeeze a little more out of my MadMax+ module with LIII S bin emitter.

Mike of Inretech,

Is there any step-up circuit in your Lexeon for Minmag 2AA ?
If it is direct-drive, is there any series resistor and the value ?
If it has step-up circuit, can you show the V/I curve/data to show whether it is fully regulated.

If it is just the Lexeon 1W, I can built my own circuit for 1AA in a minimag 2AA. Just use the 2nd battery space for my circuit.

Your questions - with answers

Mike of Inretech,

Is there any step-up circuit in your Lexeon for Minmag 2AA ?

No, as indicated before - its direct drive

If it is direct-drive, is there any series resistor and the value ?

It would be MUCH more eff to use the space and weight for the battery; step up circuits are rarely > 70% eff

We have put the 3w Luxeon into the 2AA case, but since the voltage is the same - there is no increase in brightness over the 1w Luxeon; the only advantage is a slightly nicer color temp; we would offer this as a product if there was enough interest

Our TriLight Series offers a LOT more light

TriLight:3x1w, 54 Lumens
Trilight-III:3x3w, 240 Lumens
Helios:3x5w, 360 Lumens

The Red/Orange is not a Luxeon, but a Low cost/Brightness "Spider"

We have prototypes of the new Luxeon Red/Orange in some adapters and its TOO BRIGHT, might need a Warning Label for it

bryguy42 ,
Wayn Yamaguchi at www.theledguy.com makes the MadMax converter
which I use in my MinMags. You might check out that site. I have been really happy with mine and NIMH bats.

Hello Likebright,

You're right! I bought several pills in the following configurations: BB500, BB700 and BB750 from www.theledguy.com and have to say these are awsome drop ins. These pills have full regulation, maintains constant light, extremely bright and are very dependable. These have got to be the best drop in units for a minimag 2AA.

Pictures of the Luxeon module, and installation instructions, are on the Inretech website at:
Installation Instructions

Here's a picture of the Luxeon drop-in itself from "Flashlight Reviews":
