There is a small green electrical component in line between the negative terminal of the battery pack, and the cable which leads to the led behind the upper plastic panel of the battery pack case. It appears to be a diode, resistor, or some type of a fuse. The current isn't making it beyond this point, and I'm reluctant to just remove it from the circuit because I don't know it's purpose. It has some markings, a symbol which is a circle with a zig zag line through it followed by 2 A. It has the shape of a typical small cylindrical resistor with a wire extending from each end. Could anyone tell me what this is, and why or if it is necessary?
