Hi All,
Im new to the LED craze, I had 3 cheap eBay magic shine rip off's and while playing with the reflectors i damaged one, and so the search for a replacement led started.
I decided on a cree CXA1512 and want to run it at 1200mA or there about.
I have it running from 2x 3s lipo packs in series via a 500 ohm potentiometer, it seems to work well.
the only thing i need for it is a reflector/lense and to machine a heat sink to fit in the old headlight case.
But i couldn't help but wonder if there is a better way to run the led. ie electronically/pwm
I think that by running it via a pulse width modulator would longer run time from my batteries. Am i correct in assuming that?
I have read quite a few forums over the past 3 months but never enough to fully understand whats happening.
So I would like to ask if there was someone here that would help me design a circuit to drive this LED.
I have a basic electronic knowledge but not enough experience to do this myself.
The specs are as follows.
-No programming to keep it basic
-2 modes of operation Medium @ 17.5V 500mA and High @ 20.5V 1200mA
-small and easy to make.
Any help would be appreciated
Below is my current setup
Thankyou, Roy.
