This may be a question for the older set, or the very well informed. Can anyone tell me the barrel diameter for a mid 1990's maglite 2 d-cell?

Does anyone have one, lying around, dusty, in a cupboard, or propping open a door? If so what's the serial number and are those diameter barrels still available/out there?

(Sorry for any lack of technical on my part, new to the flashlight worship.)

I just took a crude measurement with an old, cheap version of calipers that I have. These measurements are not to be considered precise, but are in the ballpark.
I have a 'modern' 3-D cell m@glite (that is not the most current version, when the switch set-screw changed). The barrel ID is roughly 34mm, or one-and-eleven-sixteenths inches.
I also have an 'older' 1987 2-D cell m@glite, and the barrel ID is roughly 37.5mm, or one-and-fifteen-sixteenths inches.
Anyone using modern digital calipers would undoubtedly get very slightly different figures.
