Its really a shame to bin the factory domeless LED but I really hate the tint. May be I have more greener than normal samples.

dang it...just when i thought i had everything...looks great as a stock light...i'm just imagining what can be pushed out of it. i really liked the way they shipped a sample to that blf guy and he mods it replacing resistors and such. i guess samples don't have to go back?

I hope you decide to mod more than the Two samples you have! Now that you opened it up It seems that there may be more hope than your initial thoughts to me!

I can tell you the stock version was NOT even close to getting hot after running it 30 minutes on max! In fact it was barely warm!

A gentlemen from CPF and BLF got these numbers,,,,,you must surpass them!!! He posted these numbers on my thread.

so mine now does 278.75Kcd with 1435 lumens, 6.37A current draw.

Does that[6.37A] seem realistic or accurate?

I learned that the XPG2 after 4A does not get much brighter but I am unfamiliar how hard and XML2 can be pushed?

It is coming back to me! I think the TK61 is ~ 7/7.5A W/ original at least 6.5A.

Maybe because it is a smaller light he can not surpass 6.37A?

With the newer LEDs coming out It's been hard breaking 6amps with a XM-L2 5.4 seems to be the new normal--From what I've seen 7.7 is rare The 2 best I have hit 7.2

With a single battery yes but with a buck driver it's a bit easier. The 7.7a I'm running is with a resistor modded 2x 18650 buck driver... Its also a u2 not the newer u3 which seems to be stubborn with high current lol

Even the latest U2 are stubborn The question has been are they putting out the same at lower current

U3 bin appears very bright even at lower current. I will do more testing on this in the M2Xvn. However there seems to be quite a big spread of samples and current draw all round.

    For what it's worth...

Factory M2X Domeless LED draw ~5.2A direct drive, Celing bounce no reflector ~55Lux
XML2 U2 PDTn draw ~4.7A direct drive, Celing bounce no reflector ~60 Lux
    XML2 U3 Dedome Draw ~4.7A
direct drive, Celing bounce no reflector ~62 lux
Random old probably U2 Dedome Draw ~4.7A direct drive, Celing bounce no reflector ~60 lux
Random old probably U2 dedome Draw ~4.3A direct drive, Celing bounce no reflector ~52 lux

Tested with Sony VTC5. These are just one sample of each "class" so take it with a grain of salt.

IMO I am just going to stick to U3 for max performance and efficiency with a PDTc like tint. It might draw less current than some old U2 but this is not happening consistent enough with reliable boost in brightness. At least not until I test a bunch more samples. Stick with PDTn if you like this tint.

Prices are great if you don't add too many options. Great performer for just the base price. :-)

That's my feeling--Pick the Tint you like that little bit of amperage difference on the top end is nothing

If I decided to send you MY light and picked THESE options it would be $80?

I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING! WHAT ABOUT SINGLE MODE DD LIKE MY M25C2vn?

    1) +$35 Driver Upgrade: 5 minute High mode timer, High ~4.5-5A
    Pick your mode edition below:
    SL Edition : H-M-L-ML
Always starts on H, 3-4.2V, Single IMR Cell Only

    2) +$25 LED copper heatsink sand flat and buff shinny + new arctic silver the
    rmal compound,
larger LED wires, switch and spring mod

    3) +$5 "V54" hand engraved

    5) +$15 - U3 is brightest and is most cool white

What is your estimate for throw[cd's] w/ the version I took?

Almost always more expensive to mail in light to mod VS buying directly from me. The price with the mods above + shipping = $100

$70 if you want it single mode DD and the applicable mods above.

    I have no numbers estimate.

Even Direct drive of a fresh charge Sony VTC5 and a good U3 sample I could only get around 5A with my Fuke 87V meter. I have a much cheaper $12 model MAS830 meter that I bought while I was in school that would read 6-7A :-)
