Using a voltage step up for a brighter LED light bar

Hey guys, I am thinking about asking a question, but I should have known better. Every question has already been asked and is either stupid, verboten or both. So there is never any reason for a new guy to ask anything because this forum is really only for serious discussions between a couple dozen hardcore members that have every single post in every single thread memorized. I guess I shall remain Unenlightened (unless I get banned for rule 6, that is...)

Doubling the voltage to the LED bar, assuming it doesn't have its own internal voltage regulation (and it almost certainly does, because it can accept such a wide range of input voltages) won't make it brighter than it's designed to be. If it doesn't have its own internal voltage regulation, you'll be replacing them several times over. Good thing you can afford it!
