Is there a service like eBay in reverse where you can post a rare item you are looking to buy?

I've seen an "auction" on e-bay where somebody listed an Item that they wanted to buy. I don't remember what it was and I don't know if they had any takers, I also don't know if it is acceptable to e-bay.
