After recently reading about Eneloops being manufactured in China as of Jan 2014, I decided to stock up on Japanese Eneloops while they are still being made available to people residing in NA, namely Canada in my case.

After creating a spreadsheet of all the local and online vendors that I could possibly order from, I narrowed it down to Costco Canada for 3-dozen AAA's and NewEgg Canada for 32 AA's [2 x 16-packs] as being the best possible prices per battery.

The Costco order arrived today but I have never seen packaging like this before so I thought I would post it up and see what everyone thinks.
Nothing THAT unusual but it does look like packaging made by Panasonic FOR Costco.

Based on flashlight inspection, the manufacture dates are all in 2014 with 4 from April and 5 from June.

On opening the box, I got three of these bubble mailers which I initially thought were standard bubble mailers that Costco had used to re-package the batteries to make them safer for shipping.

Thats until I saw the Panasonic barcode sticker on each one.

Each bubble mailer contained a card that looked like this on one side...

...and like this on the other, and the battery cards themselves were not fastened, just placed on top as shown.

The layout of the removable squares in the two pics above indicates that Panasonic must have sold or thought of selling AAA Eneloops as 24-packs at one point.

All the batteries together because you know @ CPF, this is considered art.

And, of course, the must-have shot of an individual 4-pack from both sides

UPDATE - Jan 16th 2015 - Received the 2 16-packs of AA's today.

Opening the box revealed the usual horrible NewEgg packaging that protects everything BUT the product.

As you can see they all look fine which says a lot for the manufacturers packaging, especially considering the very uneven weight distribution much like that of a dumbell.

Both cards came with batteries manufactured in July 2014

My personal favourite Eneloop wrappers were the Gen 2 Eneloops. I don't really like the Gen 4 wrappers, I think the big orange star uglies them up.

I have read so many threads on Eneloops and seen so many pics that I cant tell the difference anymore.

Now that you mention it, the "sun" DOES tend to stick out but thats probably because you pointed it out so now thats all I will see :)
