Enlightened
So I just purchased a really cheap lantern on the recommendation of my colleague and at MYR10.90 (about USD 2.8) it isn't really all that bad. Diffused light is way better than my generic cheap 3D cell lantern and it runs on 3xAA cells, which means I can run my eneloops in them (single eneloop costs more than the light though so might just use cheap alkaleaks hahaha)
This is the lantern, brand Tengjun model number TJ-F11
Opened up
The reflector (its just cheap coated plastic )
Anyway, opened it up and as expected it's screams cheapness. Basically it's just wires connecting the batteries to switch to...is that a driver board?, btw it measures at 35mm so was wondering whether anyone have any advise for some cheap mods to make this light better. Can I just replace that board with an LED star and solder the wires?
Although in terms of heatsinking it is practically non-existent though, so not sure if that might cause issues, anyway, I'd like it to be 50-60 lumens with the longest possible runtimes on 3xAA (nimh or alkaline)
If there is any link to a beginners guide somewhere about simple mods kindly let me know. Did read through the Beginners Guide To Modern LED Flashlights but didn't help in this particular application, or perhaps my understanding is inefficient.
Thanks everyone!
