What is the benefit of using this over a standard bulb in a maglite ?

Is there other bulbs that can be used in this socket ?

It is difficult to find maybe another member can help you out. Try a WTB add here on CPF. Norm

that were my "findings" (when I was still using Mags):
original Mag Bulb = low cost / crap gain
original Mag Xenon Bulb = hig cost / a bit of gain (not useful)

... try at typical "electronics store" to get suitable bulb(s).
Socket: P13.5s
should do about 800 mA at least
typical makers that time were: Osram and such
best "filling": Krypton (typically white(r) light)

possibly getting the bi-Pin adapter and then trying to find bi-pin bulbs could also offer some success
