New to the forum here. Are there better deals on the Nightcore HC50 than the $45 amazon deal? Also I'll be using protected Panosonic 18650's. What's the best charger on the market right now? Hoping to find a charger that will fully terminate charging once the battery is fully charged and also monitors heat. I'm lazy when it comes to charging batteries and don't want them blowing up from leaving the batteries in the charger too long. Thanks!

Buy charger Nitecore (I2 or D2) or Xtar
Are two reliable brands of chargers.

That is a great headlamp. Stefano mentioned some pretty decent chargers. Should make a nice combination. I would recommend against leaving your battery unattended while charging. I would also suggest removing it from the charger once its done.

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, there are better deals that come and go. Asking for a better price never hurt anyone, either.

Wrong spelling! It is "Nitecore",not "nightcore",or you mean a new brand?

Thanks for the suggestions! I did some more reading and ended up ordering a ZebraLight H600w MkII. I'll still be getting the HC50 as a backup. Looking at the chargers I'm torn between the Nitecore D2, Xstar VC2 and the VC4. I'm thinking I would enjoy the quicker one amp charging of the VC4, but it looks like a bulky charger. Can anybody comment on charging times at 1A vs 500mA for a 3400mAH 18650? Thanks.

Yes, you are correct. I was referring to Nitecore. Thanks for the heads up.

Battery 3400 mA with charger 500 mA - roughly 6 hours and a half
A speed 1 A - about 3 hours and a half.
(That is, if the battery is fully discharged)

The charger Nitecore I2 or D2 is cheap and works well.
I also use XTAR VP2, when I rush the speed 1 A is very convenient.

Thank you! I chose the XSTAR VP2. 7 hours of charging is just too long. I also ordered a couple ThruNite T3400 batteries. Hopefully everything shows up next week. I'm excited!!
