Hey Folks

I'm curious to find out, if any J2 owners have personally tried running
a 3.7v RCR2 in their light? And if so, what are your experiences?

Or if you know from someone else's experience with the J2.

Ive researched and can't find anyone who actually has tried it.

I know this is gonna be a small crowd.

I only have the later JCR2, so I can only speak to that. I've tried one for short periods, 30-60 seconds, a few times. But not over a longer period of time. But I can say it didn't make the emitter go poof within a few seconds.

Hi Magellan,

Thank you very much, for your advice. I saw your post in the other thread.
I think it was just what I needed to know.

Ill be real cautious when using the 3.7v , and stick to primary CR2
for longer durations. I was considering the 3.0V rechargeable option.

But it I got to thinking, I only have the one CR2 light, and it really doesn't see
the use, to justify getting more cells and a most likely another charger.

I appreciate you and Archimedes,

Nick

EDIT**

moderators may close this thread. I have the info I was looking for.
Thank you CPF.

You're welcome. Glad we could help.

If you ever want to sell your J2, let me know. My collection of CR2s is missing that model and I'd be happy to give you a good price.

Yes very nice lineup stingray. Thanks for sharing.

Okay so update:

I did manage to source 4 AW RCR2's in great shape still.
And I'm pleased to report they are working just fine in my J2.

Now, I won't run it full blast for more than 60 seconds.
You can feel it warming up pretty fast. I'm sure it could handle 120 seconds
but I wouldn't push it beyond that.

So I installed a QTC square back into the J2 and I can dial it back so
I can use the light for longer periods. So far it seems to be working like a charm.
Really pleased with the results.

Great idea. Where did you get the OTCs? I think I want to try that myself.

Speaking of using higher voltage cells, I was just reminded about something in a post I saw recently, can't recall the name, but anyway, one of the more knowledgable people here, who pointed out that one advantage of QTC is there is no voltage drop as in the the case of a driver circuit. It's only about 1/10th of a volt, but still, if one is running the higher voltage cell, that's another 1/10th of a volt more.

Hey Magellan

I got the QTC square from Euroken. He's the one that originally have me the idea
for the QTC. I'm pretty sure Veleno designs still sells the spare QTC's

thanks for the info about the Voltage, and QTC. very interesting, I never knew that.

Small world. He's selling me his Steve Ku Dogbone, one of the sub-CR2 lights I'm still missing.
