I have a PH40, which is awesome.
The battery however all of a sudden only charges up to 3 green LEDs.
Just like the normal 5, when it says it it charged only 3 lights flash.
After inserting the battery and firing it up I only get 3 solid green lights.

Can someone enlighten me as to what is happening here please
Thankyou

How old is the battery ?

How many charge/discharge cycles ?

What have been the storage conditions of the battery (temperature, state-of-charge) ?

I have had the setup since about October 2012. Is has seen some good use,
but certainly not excessive by any means.
I would have recharged it maybe 12 times +/-
the pack has been stored inside the torch 90% of the time
hope that can shed some light

IIRC, there is some parasitic draw and storing the battery inside the light discharges the battery slowly. I had the same issues many years ago with my PH40. Probably less than half the charge cycles that you have but mine died pretty much the same way. After the damage was done, I made sure to store the battery out of the light or at least to unscrew the tailcap enough to break contact.

Hi there, i am a new member and I happened to visit the Polarion factory last month, in Korea.

The Polarion battery can fail prematurely if it's left uncharged for more than 3 months. At the factory, I saw hundreds of lights being charged. The reason: they want them to reach end-user with a charge to prevent said battery damage.

Other conditions can shorten battery life (temperature in particular) but I would bet discharge played a role here.

Spares are available in the US and cost is similar to what was mentioned by other members.
