I am trying to build a circuit for an antique Marine Bow light. I need to run it off two 9 V batteries the light is 12 V 7 W .58 amp. Trying to calculate the resister size I would need to put in the series circuit.also there is a switch in the circuit. And not sure how heavy duty wire I would need. Thank you for your help in advance.

R= (18V-12V)/0,58A=10,34 Ohm

P= I*I*R = 0,3364AA *10,34V/A = 3,47 W

wires from 0,5mm will be fine

Are you talking about the little 9V 'transistor' batteries? You can't pull that kind of power out of those batteries.

If you've got bigger batteries, give us an idea of what you've got and we can be more helpful.

Thank you yes it is too small 9 V batteries and I realized that the circuit is so small this additional resistance is not necessary but thank you for your help
