Has anyone ever replaced the 18650 cells within a PH40 battery pack?

I have had a breif look around without finding much.

The cells I have to replace with are from a laptop, still very new cells.
I am unsure as what to do with the spot welded tabs attached to them.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a lot of soldering experience, but I am unsure on the duration of
heating the cells for soldering without causing damage.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have the same light and battery pack so am interested in anything you turn up on this.

I note you're in S. Australia. What part? I was in Adelaide a few months ago.

Howdy Magellan, yep I am in Adelaide. A lot of people bag it, but I love it. Quieter than most capital cities.
Gives you more chance to let rip with the big torches

Any help GREATLY appreciated.
I can't really justify a $400+AU battery for a torch that, yes I love, but is only worth $700 secondhand.

Japudjuha,

A used Polarion torch without the battery may be worth $US650, but it's useless without its battery. Polarion lights are professional products used by Law and Order types all over the globe. You own one to use it and that requires a periodic battery replacement, just like gasoline in your car. The new Polarion batteries are resistant against deep long term discharge and now pack 5200 mAh.
