i have a 10400mah powerbank with 4 18650 cells in them. Model name is Pink Roccade and from what i've read is that there are 4 times 2600mah cells from LG in them. How big is the chance there are really LG lithium ions in there? thete is only 1 screw to open it.

gonna open it up for sure since i found a screw under the plasic cap at the power button.
The powerbank it self really last so long that i have never got any change to drain it. But it did charge my phone up to about 90% and still showed 2 lights out of 4. I must say i topped it off to 3 lights out of 4.
Chance to find 4x. 2600mah cells is big. Also the bank itself feels heavy. There is no iron brick inside as i did put the bank at the light and showed me nice 4 18650 cells inside.

phone battery is a 2550mah.

Currently im not home till Sunday.

Update on the powerbank:

I opened it carefully ( Yes i did that ) and found out there are 4 green 18650 cells in it. There's no LG branded name on there, but there are between 2200~2600mah as the bank fully charged my iPad and that bank still wasn't empty ( about half full ).

ASO cells are commonly found in replacement laptop packs. To determine their capacity you need to do a discharge test ("fully charging xyz" is generally not reliable).

Atleast they have good capacity in them from what i've seen doing a charge on my ipad. It does charge slow :) It says it can do 1a or 2a. Well that's not true at all These two usb ports are parallel soldered.

So i should fully charge all the cells and then do discharge ? Dunno if the powerbank does Balance charge those 2 times 2p1s config.
I don't wanna blow up the cells as the powerbank itself is still ok and not expected to last long on just 1 charge.

It took a whole day to charge the pack up using my Galaxy S6 charger.

That's 5v 2a or 9v 1,67a.

Same ASO 18650's and they are 2200mah per cell.

Because I never trust in what the seller or the description of this power banks say I buy the electronics, make some test and keep the good ones, always using 3400 or 3100 panasonic cells. Any way if this power pack work for you and do the job keep it.

I use my ipad usb charger to charge my power pack, those are 2amp trully usb charger...

I found this exact cell in a cheap promotional giveaway. Since it was free and those items are usually cheap, I just threw everything away to be safe.

Sweet Powerbank with high capacity. Not so sure to what voltage the bank charges the cells to.

And i'm not gonna take off the tabs on the cells. Still using the powerbank if i need so.

If these cells die, i can resolder 4 new cells ofcourse. I can be done for about €30 for 4 new cells or so.

Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mah. Is cheap ?

Small update: Cracked open the portable charger again and charging the cells up now and testing them tomorrow. It seems promising already. These cells were at 4,05v ( Used the portable charger sometimes ). Charging at 3 amps rating at the moment. It did put in 500mah+ so far with those cells sitting at 4,05v before the charge.

10800mah capacity ? Maybe :). I dunno the age of the pack either, so i expect it to be between 9000 and 9800mah or so.

Small Update: It's discharging now for the whole day using 1.0 amp and got out 5540mah so far @3,42v left. Seems promising to me.

It's discharging all 4 cells ( Tested it during a full charge with a multimeter. All were at 4,22v at the same time, so it's balanced well. It's config is: 1s2p x2.

Small update:

It does have the claimed 10400mah capacity ( just even little bit more ). Charged them back up and few hours later, they are still at 4,21v. And i just popped the pcb when trying the test the output voltage ( it did stink a bit ). Gotta find new 18650 portable usb chargers now. This one charged my phone soooo slowwww. 2amp output ? Don't think so.

Best was between 500~1000ma per hour using a app on my phone.

Normally there would light up 4 LED'S when full and it doesn't do that anymore when pushing the button. It only lights up when inserting the charging cable for charging.

Conclusion: No short circuit protection, but it just blows a dc to dc converter chip in it and it's over, but it does have it's claimed capacity which you don't see that often in China Made Power Banks i think.
