Has anyone come across a design that places LEDs on a bridge facing towards the reflector? I believe this would cut down glare while providing excellent light.
There was a 'reflex' arrangement like this in some flashlights a while ago (IIRC, by Peli Products?).
Advantage is a lack of spill where a light is trying to be pure spot.
Disadvantages are a more complicated cooling path and having the LED mounting in front of the reflector - with a perfectly focussed smooth reflector there'd be a shadow image of the LED+heatsink/mount in the beam.
