I have a Vector handheld pistol-grip spotlight that my father-in-law gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It has the 2 little LED's in the grip. It won't fire up. Not sure if it's not charging or the bulb is bad. The little LED's in the grip still light up.

Can I mod it? Trash it? Any ideas?

Should be able to see the filament to tell if the bulb is shot. As far as the little LEDs, they require much less power than the main bulb, they'll light on a Damn near dead battery.
My guess would be that the battery is shot. The lead acid batteries in those lights don't last but a few years, especially if not maintained properly.
Depending on the model, there may be an external power port that you could plug it into a car cig lighter to test the bulb.
