I want:

LED rechargeable flashlight with best spotlight which will throw at least 750' (hopefully at least 1,000'). I want one with charger for home and charger for his truck so he can take it hunting etc. There are two I am looking at but I am open to other brands/ideas. But I must order within the next few days or it won't be here by his birthday. I have been studying for weeks now.

I would like it to last at least a few hours on the highest throw. I want dependability and I want to buy him everything he would ever need for it, such as holster (nice leather?), extra battery sticks or lenses or ??

Here are the two which seem to meet my needs (from my new-to-illumination perspective):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XT4TP8/?tag=cpf0b6-20 (it seems good but some reviewers, more than I would hope, have had problems and had to get them replaced. I wonder about dependability.

http://www.opticsplanet.com/streamlight-sl-20l-rechargeable-led-flashlight.html (the third one down for $124). However, it doesn't have leather holster - only nylon. Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I thought leather would be better.

I have also looked at Maglite but they don't seem as powerful. Oh, it is critical that he can use the flashlight to see down to the backside of the pasture to the tree line. It is 750' away and we get coyotes and cougars and even black bears and we have horses. He has said he wished he could see what was going on when the horses act up down there.

I wanted several youtube videos and I have read volumes and still feel lost on what to buy. Good youtube video is here:

I must buy within the next few days or it will be late for his birthday. I am out of time. Thank you for reading and please help me give him the best present ever. He deserves it. He works very hard and never asks for anything!!

I am sorry, but I am not a huge Streamlight fan for various reasons. However, they are usually good lights. But IMHO there are so many better options.

My first suggestion is to get on the horn with Mountain Electronics LLC. Tell them what you need, and they will set you up a package and overnight it to you. They will also walk you through any problems you may have.

My second suggestion is to get on the horn with Going Gear in Ga. Same deal as above. They will probably suggest a Olight. They have some awesome throwers.

Next: You may end up getting a light that uses rechargeable cells, but you would have to charge them externally. Most chargers will charge in both the home or car (12 volts).
Sample idea: Maxtouch M24 Sniper and Xstar VC4 charger and Panasonic batteries. (I own tons of lights, this one is killer for the price) Ask him if he can Dedome it for you for more throw.

Hope that helps some. If you weren't in such a hurry we could discuss other ideas.

Okay!! Thank you so much! I ended up ordering this since I think it has everything he might need.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011XH7KH4/?tag=cpf0b6-20

I sure hope this makes him happy! It will be here in four days!

I tried contacting the companies you suggested but I could not find an email for them, Going Gear was no answer when I called - they must be closed and I reviewed Mountain Electronics LLC site and didn't see anything I liked but the bottom line is, I was running out of energy to research. I must have watched 50 videos on flashlights and read another 100 reviews. I'm tired.

I got this Olight because the owner of Going Gear highly recommends it in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T070siG0CE

I'm not sure what I ordered from Amazon is the same as the one Marshall (Going Gear) recommended here:
http://goinggear.com/olight-m3xs-ut...mens-customized-cree-xp-l-led-flashlight.html

But that last link - where I WANTED to order - didn't list a charger or holster and I couldn't find any accessories or anything! I do not understand why it is so difficult to get accessories and replacement parts listed with the flashlights but most of the websites seem to ignore that part.

I'm a wiped out! I have watched videos on throw until I'm blind. I'm just glad I finally hit the purchase button and can move on in life. I can honestly tell my husband I searched for the best purchase under $300. Again, this is for long throw needs and not close-up work.

Thank you all for helping me. Oh! And it came with gun mount thing which I think hubby will like. I have no idea how the 'remote' might work or its purpose nor the red lens but since he likes gadgets, he'll probably like them. :)

Now ... let's home I can get the dumb verification completed so I can post ...

Great choice. All that research was worth it. You came to the worlds best resource for flashlights and then chose the perfect light for his needs. Much better than that first streamlight you linked imo. I'm sure he will be stoked :) Let us know how he likes it if you can be bothered
