Hurricane Patricia

Looks like El Nino will be pretty bad this year. We're starting off with the strongest hurricane on record in the western hemisphere. Hurricane Patricia has reached 200 mph sustained winds and threatens to hit Mexico today. Forcasters predict it could strengthen a little more today, then weaken some by the time it hits landfall. They are predicting it will hit land still as a Category 5 hurricane around 5 p.m. today. 185 mph wind gusts or higher could hit the coast later today. If any of you live in this area, it's time to evacuate now.

245mph gusts...CRAZY!!

On a side note, el nino is really going to screw up my winter fun...dry and warmer than usual

(I like getting out in the snow and cold during winter)

I'm glad I don't live in Mexico, but I'll pray for those that do. Sounds like this storm has the lowest pressure of any storm ever measured at 880 mb or 25.98 inches. This isn't the storm you want to stick around and ride out. I hope everyone in the area realizes this and plans to evacuate. The death toll for this storm will be very high otherwise.

Texas radio isn't overly concerned yet; call-in shows already have lots of stories of flooded houses and road rescues, but stations are still airing regularly scheduled national shows. Don't know Spanish but there's a lot of talking on Mazatlan radio..
