I called out to Radio Shack to see if they has some silicon lube that I have read about on this forum. The fella there said he didn't know if was conductive or not. He did say that he used to use caster oil on electrical contacts to keep them from corrosion. Any opinions out there on using this on a SF ??

Never heard of using castor oil for electrical equipment. It was used in the Soptwih Camels to lube the engine! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Castrol R castor oil is used in racing 2 strokes, outstanding anti scuff properties but gunges things up so needs regular dismantling, unique smell as well.

Castor oil will eventually spoil. It also doesn't perform as well as more modern blended oils. It probably beats most other vegetable oils possibly with the exception of peanut oil. But it would work. Afterall, what do you think they originally oiled casters with, anyway? Seriously, there are a few hundred better choices. Oil from sperm whales, for instance......
