Get Streamlight's Li-Ion, part number 75176.
Unless weight is a concern, the lithium-ion doesn't offer any capacity advantage over NiMH and has a lower cycle count. I would recommend OEM NiMH as they don't degrade over time like lithium-ion.

Why is the fast charger preferable?
The standard/steady charger outputs 180mA, which would be less than 0.1C. Slow charge is not necessarily a good thing for lithium-ion, unlike NiCd/NiMH, and can cause more wear.

I have been dragging my tail on this. Can anybody recommend a source for an after-market battery for my well used Streamlight Stinger?

Did you ever replace this battery? Did you go lithium ion? I have an old stinger just sitting around that needs a battery and didn't know about a lithium was available.

Yes, I did replace it with a NiMH battery stick. It is working very well for me.
