Maglite MT-G2 8xAA (batteries included)

This light was modded by kyfishguy. This is a 2D sized Maglite that has a MT-G2 emitter driven to 3.5amps with 8 AA batteries. There are 4 modes starting with low and this does not have mode memory. Includes 2 4xAA battery holders and I find the way that they will arrive (keeping current one towards head at the head, and current one towards the tail at the tail) work the best. When they have been reversed there appears to be a break/loss in contact somewhere. This is very bright for an AA powered light and who doesn't love a Maglite. I kept this one in my truck as an emergency light and recharged the batteries every month due to parasitic drain with Maglite having an electronic switch.

For $85, this includes priority shipping and 8xAA Tenergy LSD batteries.

List Date: 12/24/2015

I've been keeping an eye on it, I'm just not really sure about it yet. I'm surprised it didn't sell yet.

I took it with me to work and snapped some pictures earlier, I hope these help. :)

Re: Maglite MT-G2 8xAA (batteries included)

I tried to buy it on Panjo, but the app froze when I hit the payment button. Please tell me what plan "B" for payment is. I gather that Panjo is being discontinued and this may be the cause.

This light will give me the ability to use several of my 4 cell wide serial 4aa and 8aa caddies that I've only been able to fit into my old rechargeable Magcharger and Streamlight bodies designed for packs of 5 * 1/2 D cells.

That reminds me -- Please confirm the acceptable voltage input range for the light.

Thanks

You'll like it. I have a similar mod and it's a great light.

Re: Maglite MT-G2 8xAA (batteries included)

Unfortunately, I do not know the working voltage range exactly. Here is the link to the thread I purchased this light from. In it, Brian mentions he uses the "new version dry driver." I came across this post at BLF regarding this driver:
http://budgetlightforum.com/node/28605

The cnqualitygoods link within the thread is currently down for maintenance from the looks of it. Post #15 within that thread shows someone reaching a voltage of 16.60v. Hope this helps some. I am not sure if you are still interested in this or not but I will shoot you my paypal information via PM.

Re: Maglite MT-G2 8xAA (batteries included)

Cree's MT-G2 sheet says the emitter is available in 6V, 9V, or 36V packages. The driver is apparently buck only which could make the emitter either 6V or 9V, but the voltage sag on 8 * aa in serial at 3.5A to the LED suggests that the LED is in a 6V package. I'm happy to see the linked driver comments because it appears that I can also drive the light with 2 or 3 26650's or longer King Kongs. (I have a 90mm long Mag D extension tube in the same color as the light.)

I've sent the $75 per your pm.
