Talking Just spotted theese on ebay, 9800mah 18650

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pc-3-7V-980...-/141859612059

And all this for under a dollar.

Why not bump it up to 10 000 while they are at it?

Oh! and Happy new year everyone!

There have been (fake of course) 10000mAh cells on eBay for quite some time, e.g. here. What's more surprising is that such sellers get mostly rave reviews (presumably because the general public typically has no easy way to test capacity, and has little intuition on such).

Out of curiosity I once browsed the feedback of one seller who had sold many thousands of such fake cells. I summarized the results on BLF. All the feedback was positive except for about 18 users who noticed the scam. You read that correctly - only eighteen. Snake oil is alive and well.

And, not surprisingly, there were some dramatic failures reported, e.g.

. . . Battery exploded with great force after 475mAH of charging. complete Junk ! (4pcs18650 UltraFire 6000mAh4.2V Li-ion Rechargeable Battery for Flashlight Torch #111529167441), and

. . . As soon as i used the battery it got very warm and acid came out. (2x 3.7V 18650 UltraFire Li-ion 6800mAh Red Rechargeable Battery for LED Torch #111653427442)

What happens when you inform sellers they must be fake? Below is a typical response (from 10X "6000mAh" 18650 for $10)

    Thank you for your message.
Our Factory told us it is 6000mah.
But we also confused about how to test it cause some customers complaint about this.
    Sorry for this unprofessional reply.
    Keep in touch.
    Have a nice day!
    Best Regards,

Of course the cells remain listed on eBay, still sell like hotcakes, with glowing feedback (latest: great deal and fast)

    like I said

big business if you are a greasy b**tard

    1) collect junk laptop battery packs, recover the cells

    2) get a 18650 sized shrinkwrap machine

    3) get rolls of your fake logo

    4) profit

    5) see you in hell

That sounds like one I better jump on. I'll bet they would go good with my 3000 lumin Ebay light that puts out less than 100 lumins.

Is that the one that uses one AAA cell?
Remember, Two is One, and One is None!.
