I have an older Led Lenser, about P5 size,
It had no P number and is no longer shown on their Site.

The beam has developed Large black areas, especially mid range in beam focus.

It is a turn focus type

Bin it and treat yourself to something better.
I have got a better one coming.Re Bin it, it is a good long range light. As I wish to learn more about mods and technical aspects, I would like to practice on this and get it going againSo any assistance in dismantling and fixing would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! Rather than wait here for an answer or ideas, I would suggest using the CPF search bar. Type in "Fix LED Lenser" or some variant of that, and see what shows up. :)

As far as I understand it projects LED image with its lens. Dark areas are most likely a sign of deteriorating semiconductor matrix. If possible (or worth the effort), you may try to replace the LED block.

To be sure you might take a darkened glass, put it on top of a lens and watch the LED on minimal lumens. I guess, you might notice black dots or even areas in the crystal.

Just my theory, but I wonder how close it is to reality :)

I have sorted out the focus on the Police Tech LL.

I contacted LL Australia and they asked me to send it back as it was just still in warranty.

They were very good to deal with.

They replaced the Police tech with a TAC model.

So I now have a good torch again
