Ok. I must admit i feell noobie, because i searched a lot and i found lots of information on review pages but i could not perceive the exact differences between the olight m23 javelot and the olight m2x-ut regarding its practical uses.

I mean, the m23 seems to have a new led emmiter but the m2x-ut emitter seems to surpass it anyway.

And If the m2x-ut got more throwing power, whats is the advantage of getting an m23 javelot?

Will a m2x-ut be a better option anyday or there is any advantage of m23 that i could not perceive?

I am little confused and would appreciate any hint.

Sorry if i made any mistake.

Thanks a lot.

Cheers from Brazil

The M23's beam has a larger hot spot, brighter corona and spill making it more practical for every day use. The Head on the M23 is 41mm vs. 63mm making the M23 much more pocket friendly. You can get a diffuser for either light for close up tasks but you can't triple the throw of the M23. So I guess it comes down to size and wether your willing to use/carry a diffuser, and if you need all that throw. Also an extender is available for the M2X for increased run times.

Dear sirs

Comparing the specs of m23 and m2x-ut, i have noticed some differences that make me curious.

M2xut
1020 LUMENS / 1 HR
250 LUMENS / 3 HRS
20 LUMENS / 30 HRS
CREE XM-L2
3.0V TO 8.4V
164,000 CD
810 METERS/ 2657 FEET
1 meter
L 163mm x D 63mm
218g / 7.69 oz

M23
1020lumens/5min+600lumens/55min
350 lumens / 2 hours
20 lumens / 30 hours
Cree XP-L
2.8v to 8.4v
47,500 cd
436 meters / 1430 feet
1.5 meters
L 145mm x D 41mm
152g / 5.36 oz

Reading this i think ( think!) That the most remarkable difference is that

M23 can work 55 minutes (+-1hour) in 600 lumens mode.
And
M2xut can work 1 hour in 1020 lumens mode

That said, it seems that, with just 1x18650, the m2x-ut can maintain, for an entire hour, nearnly the double of lumens that the m23 can maintain for the same hour (in fact 55 minutes)

Looking this picture, the m2x-ut seems to offer more lumens per hour (1020 lumens/1 hour) than m23 (just 600 lumens / 55 minutes) , making the m2x-ut a winner when someone are looking for more output per hour.

But, since i dont have much experience, i would like to show my math to other members to check if it is right or not.

What would you say?
Is this specs correct?

Thanks

Amayumi, there is a timed step down on the M2XUT after approx 5 mins to 65%. Roughly speaking, there is not much difference in run times for equivalent output, particularly within lights of the same brand. Despite the different emitters of the two lights, it seems about the same here.

The M2XUT gets its extra throw from the larger reflector, not output ( I'm sure you know this already). It can be reset to max output by switching off and on. Overall run time will be shorter if you do- you can't beat the parameters! :)
