Starting another G4 or G6.35 Maglite C build need ideas for bulb?

I am loving the IMR 26650 cells with high drain currents and over 5000mAh. Here is what I am thinking.

Get a 3C Mag cut and bored to fit 2*26650 cells or Just stick to the normal 2C Mag w/18650's to save money.
G4 6V would take 2 IMR 8.4V input. (Philips 7388 20W G4 halogen bulb)
Kaidomain 52mm SMO Cam Reflector with UCL lens

That would be a simple 500 Lumen 2C Maglite stock looking.

My other Incan is a Mag623 with JimmyM driver so don't need a paper burner anymore.

Philips 7388 20W G4 halogen bulb has similar spec to WA1111
Why not go with Philips 5761 30W G4 halogen bulb?
However, few brands of protected 18650 (AW and Redylast) are capable of 20W bulbs but anything higher need IMR which will push both of above to borderline.
Either one will be nice and warm.
Please let us know about final decision.:twothumbs

i want something I can Direct Drive with 2 IMR cells and not flash the bulb

Ok. So I got my design already.

Build list:

• 2C Maglite with Bi-Pin socket G4/G6.35
• IMR 18650's for 8.4V input
• Kai SMO Maglite metal reflector
• UCL lens

I do plan on getting Philips 5761 bulb, but all I see is they are about $13 delivered from Ebay sellers.

I will be direct driving only with IMR 18650's so is there another bulb that wont Flash that is less expensive?

I like bulbamerica.com for my purchase, but they only have 1 available that I don't know if I will flash or not?

5761 has always been my favorite bulb for mag mods and others. Mainly because of the price and availability, and I must say I have never been let down by one. They must be pretty tolerant of abuse because I can be reckless at times with my battery selection LOL.


I'm not sure how you're searching, but I always find them for cheap. I know one time I bought a lot of 10 and paid maybe $5 a piece or less.

I don't want to post a direct link, but I see them on ebay right now for $8.50 shipped for a single bulb, US Shipping from NY.. PM if you need a link.
