Is there an option for a AA charger (Eneloops) which can also be used as a power out source for iPhones and such? Seems like a valid idea to be able to use the stored power in the batteries (after recharging in the charger from an outside power source- 110, USB) and then using them as a power storage unit or in a light.

I have a few chargers that can do this. The most recent mentioned in this thread http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...batterybank)&p=4918037&viewfull=1#post4918037

The ones I have are the :

  • Xiaomi Zi5
  • GoalZero Guide 10+
  • FujiCell SCH500/Portapow

Fujitsu have one called the "Portable Smart Charger" FSC341 http://www.fdk.com/denchi-e/rechargeable_battery/chager/index.html this can also act as a powerbank.

Also there is the FujiCell SCH600F (sold as the Extreme SCH600 in the UK) http://www.spowerking.com/display.asp?id=38

There are probably others out there but even though the ones I have that can act as a NiMH battery bank are reasonable smart chargers (each with their quirks), the biggest downside is that NiMH battery banks are not very efficient when compared with lithium cell battery banks.

HKJ has reviewed most of the ones I have and the also doesn't think that the battery bank capability using NiMH is that great.
