I have a 70. This light is put to the absolute test quite often, I can assure you they are as durable as they look. My light has never failed me.

I've got a black satin 7075 BOSS 35 that's been my daily carry for a few months now and I've dropped it quite a bit with no issue. It even took a three and a half foot fall onto concrete and I can barely see the impact mark on the tail!

Default v5 Triple BOSS Flashlight (Bright Output Small Size)

Similar sentiments here. I’ve had my BOSS 35 for over a year, and the coating is really something else. Dropped it many times with very little to show for it.

Interestingly, what’s done the most visible damage are my keys and the aluminum frame of my wallet. My BOSS 35 has many hairline scratches throughout it from being in the same pocket.

If something in the flashlight does fail, there’s a good chance it’ll probably be the switch. And with the right tools, it’ll take only a couple minutes to swap out for a new one.

The litte copper 35 was jealous of the treatment the 70 received and was begging me constantly to get the same treamtment. Last weekend I couldn´t stand it´s bugging anymore and turned the 35 into a pirate BOSS too.

How are the electronics in the BOSS sealed? I have not been able to find this info.

Ok, my bad, I should have been more specific. I'm looking at impact resistance.

Under water battery change was groovy for sure. O-rings were a given, I apologize. Are the electronics potted? How are optics attached to the board? Just curious! I just found out about the BOSS so.....curiosity killed the cat..

EDIT : Optics are part of the lens? I guess thats just what I saw. I was admiring "raw" titanium. I like to make scratches.

UCL sits on top Carclo optics which sit on board via pillars. No need for potting unless you're planning on subjecting to severe weapons recoil

Sorry for the confusion. Potting is used for reinforcing off the shelf boards from impact or exposure. Our custom v5 boards are designed and built from scratch with impact rated components and then sealed behind metal bulkheads. The boards that go into every BOSS are the same boards that we put into every upgraded x300:

So combined with our standard stout front spring, you can strap a BOSS to an ak47 and expect it to handle thousands of rounds. They handle normal impacts as well:

Now that the images of the complete lights are out there, we want to share some more behind the scenes photos for you.

Today I will start with a light the I have been using to prove the durability of these tools.
This light was dropped and thrown over 100 times, from 8-10 feet high, onto solid concrete.
These lights are made from 7075 aluminum which is much harder and stronger than the typical 6061 that is used in many lights.

This BOSS still functions 100% perfectly.
The glass never even chipped or cracked.
    It is still waterproof.
Parts are still round and not seriously deformed.
    Switch still works properly.
Threaded parts still function as if they were new.

I still carry this thing daily if the BOSS 70 is not in my pocket.

And after all of this abuse it was a bit roughed up for pocket carry.
I hit it with the grinder to take down the sharp edges, then gave it a tumble to smooth it out.
(light had battery inside and was turned on the whole time)
This is how it looks today.

Thank you everyone for your support!

    -Tom

ive been having an issue recently with my boss... it seems at times the light will cut off and not turn back on for an extended period of time. sometimes, removing the head and putting the battery back in i can turn the light back on. other times, i have to wait. i was able to replicate this earlier today. when i could get the light back on it would only stay on for 5-10 second. then on the next attempt it stayed on for well over a minute. between tries i had wiped the threads off. an hour later i used it again at work and sure enough it cut off again after about 10 seconds. midway through the test i did the 1-1-1 thing and showed a voltage on my battery of 3.5. previously when i had this issue i just assumed my battery was dying out but discovered it was still at 3.7 volts when i put it on the charger.

when i get back home i will try this battery out in another light, although im fairly confident ive had this behavior on a couple different cells now, the only catch is that all my cells in my current BOSS rotation are the same capacity and brand. also worth mentioning is that my highest setting is 8.8W. i dont think that would be enough to trip the protection on a 3400mah AW protected cell. anyone else have this issue?

Is your battery protection disabled on the programming? If not, that could be your culprit.

It could be the light or connectivity but it sounds like your battery is failing. Although even a failing 18650 should have enough strength for the lower modes. First thing to try is a recharge. PM Sent!

No way of ordering a blue clip instead of stock clip with a full BOSS flashlight?

EDIT: Is this something we could specify in the extra instructions section at no extra cost or is that wishful thinking?

Yes, we strive to give everyone what they want. And anything short of a board change can be handled in real time. Just note that certain finishes have specific clips. Black have altin and Machine have mildly polished clips to better match the brighter body. So getting an original clip later may not be possible.

Thanks. As always, very obliging. I think a blue clip would look nice on the machine finish Ti.
