looks like another piece of the picture has been revealed on the OR site. unfortunately it seems as if the shadows revealing some details are now gone.

    Hello Everyone,

We hope that you all had a great week.

I am just finishing up assembling some brass contacts for the new lights here this evening.

Someday, your grandchildren will get a chance to enjoy these parts.

    Have a great weekend!

Looks like the design is similar to the E series triples.

the whole "grandchildren" remark is a bold claim man. since i already have a V5 wasp head im curious to see what it is about this light that will make it stand out among the wasp heads and V5 drop ins, or if it will be just more of the same in a slightly different package. not that there is anything wrong with that.

    Default New B.O.S.S Flashlight?

As the mechanical engineer of the group, Toms comments about time apply to permanence of design and durability of construction. In this case, BOSS will not make Wasp obsolete. They will have similarities (like board upgradability) and distinct advantages (like simplicity vs huge options). Both can be considered heirloom quality and if you like one, you're bound to like the other.

I keep resisting so many lights in the marketplace waiting for this to be available... The wait is killing me but I know it will be worth it!

Will the BOSS be a whole new flashlight or will there be compatibility with something else ? E-C series or moddoolar ?

For key advantages, BOSS will have its own threading/standard.
But we also understand the value in existing ecosystems. So we're making a version of the head with more universal threads.

A moddoolar adapter may also be possible, if there's interest.

Might be getting ahead of myself, but are there advantages to getting the head with the native BOSS threading vs. the universal threads? I guess I might have to buy one of each!

Edit: oops, you mentioned there will be key advantages to the BOSS threading. I should read before replying

It's Oveready's new light system that is based on the V5 tech from their drop-ins and the Wasp heads, but instead of the complicated Moodular exosystem, the parts will be streamlined. There's a teaser image on their site if you click on the BOSS category, and there's more scattered info around the Oveready forum here on CPF also.

What is proper etiquette? Is it acceptable to translate internet slang to save the other 'unwashed' among us from having to look it up since I did? She Who Must Be Obeyed

I don't care what the BOSS is. Just make sure you have enough of them in stock. I wanted to have a v5 E series head. Sold out. I wanted to have a ZeroRez switch for the M4. Sold out. If you think a batch of 7 BOSS flashlights is enough, go ahead ... make my day

Sorry for the concern. We had similar issues with triple drop ins and committed to improving availability- launching v5 drops with near 100 units ready to ship. With regular updates and restocks (visible in this thread) they've been in continuous stock since, up to and including today.

We don't charge enough to do both so we've underproduced other products this summer (including ZR), specifically to focus resources to make BOSS our largest release ever.

Insider 61 doesn't go out until components enough for over 100 lights are on my desk and parts for 200 more are waiting in the wings. I don't expect this to be enough for the year, so our entire team will be on standby to make even more.

Ok, I just sold a HDS 325 and I'm ready to snatch the BOSS. Couldn't you reveal little bit more of the shape? The tail maybe?

    Alright

So I got snagged in with the B.O.S.S. thing on the website, so naturally came here to check out the discussion of my fellow overeadyholics, and after reading the list of responses here, I'm going to make the following predictions:

    - B.O.S.S. Stands for Big Output Small Size. It will be about the size of Surefire's e1e or e2e.
    - The name suggests that it'll probably be a single 18350 sized light, but I have no doubt that a 2 cell version will be possibly forthcoming if there is demand.
    - It's going to be offered as an entire light that uses it's own thread type - probably ACME threads, because we know why.
    - There will be an e series compatible head that will be available to allow you to screw this onto Surefire e series lights like the E1E/L or E2E/L, provided the e1e size lights are at least using the fancy new AW16340's

Bam. There it is. That's based on all of your input so far. That's either a prediction that's correct or a wish list, because I think something like this would be pretty cool. There have been a number of posts by people wishing for a light similar to the e1e format, and the modded e1e/e2e's sold out in minutes in some cases, so it makes sense to tap into that popularity.
