Just ran across this today while surfing the 'net. This has been my top pick in the H4 category. Looks like I'll be buying Philips Xtreme Vision form now on. This is disappointing news. :(

64205 was the Osram 70/65w H4 bulb. Its discontinuation is disappointing but it's not all that big of a loss, because the Philips Xtreme Vision's performance is somewhat better than 64205 on low beam, and only slightly less on high beam.

Just when I was about to buy some more, too.

On the link for the Osrams at the Candlepower Store, it says the Vosla H4 +100 is comparable in performance. Virgil, would you agree?

Yes, any of the reputable-brand +80/+90/+100/+110/+120/+130 H4 bulbs is going to be a close match for the Osram 64205, as demonstrated here.

That's true, though Philips has taken steps to improve the lifespan of their Xtreme bulbs. For example, the glass capsule is much smaller in diameter. That means the glass gets hotter/quicker, which means the halogen cycle starts sooner and operates more efficiently, thus boosting filament life compared to a larger capsule. The lifespan of an Xtreme bulb is, in my experience, about equal to the lifespan of a 64205.

I ordered a set of Vosla +100's - was a little disappointed that they had light blue tint over the main (high beam) filament like the X-treme Vision +130's, but if their objective performance is about the same as the 64205's I'll be satisfied.
