i need a super-reliable handheld "tactical" light for edc (pocket) and it must be max 4.25" long. by super-reliable mainly i mean shock-resistance(will survive being dropped onto concrete) , and water-resistant/waterproof .

cost is not an issue, though hoping to stay under $150.

thanx in advance for all feedback !

I think the Elzetta Alpha or Malkoff MDC are the likely choices of that size?
Both are terrific little lights!

I think the Elzetta Bravo is 4.5 inches if you go over 1/4 inch. Those are tough and even have a commercial where they are driving nails. I'd recommend one of those with a 16650.

I think I could recommend an HDS LE...although I don't own one myself the dimensions seem to fit and they are well spoken of around here. Personally I could not spend so much on a light that uses tech that is several generations old.

After viewing Marshall's (Owner of Going Gear) latest SHOT show video about some of Olight's new products, you might want to wait a bit. The new M1R that they have on display seems to be the perfect new single 123A sized tactical light.
