The new 6.3Ah battery pack is called Core18V. I don't know who the manufacturer of the 20700 cells is.

Q What is it about the chemistry of the 20700 cell that Bosch is able to get 80% more power than the standard 18650 cell?

The 20700 cell is 2mm wider in diameter and 5mm taller than the 18650 cell (20mm – 18mm = 2mm, 70mm -65mm = 5mm). This 33% increase in cell size allows for a larger reaction in the cell. The material that is added acts as a catalyst to the Lithium-ion cell that optimizes it for higher current draw.

Bosch is now switching to 21700 cells in some of their battery packs.

...With the help of greater power efficiency found in 21700 Lithium-ion cell technology, Bosch has developed the GBA18V40 CORE18V 4.0 Ah battery to bring all of the capability of the original CORE battery into a smaller, lighter package. The new cell introduces much more active battery volume in a pack that's only slightly larger than the previous 20700 cell packs....
