  • Nominal voltage: 3.7V
  • Nominal capacity: 5500mAh
  • Charge voltage: 4.20V +/-0.5V
  • Standard charge current: 0.5A
  • Maximum Charge current: 2A
  • Maximum continuous discharge: 20A
  • Maximum pulse discharge: 30A

A high current and high capacity 26650 cell.

The two cells are very well matched and as usual I test them a bit above specifications. They handled 20A fine, but did not like 30A continuous, it blew a fuse inside both cells, preventing me from doing the rest of the tests.

AT 20A they get rather hot, I measured about 78°C.

At 30A they reached 86°C before the fuse blew.

The performance of these cells looks very good and I will look on it as an advantage that they blew a fuse when overloaded (Instead of blowing up).
For vapers that want to use 30A, this fuse is no problem, I draw 30A for about 8 minutes continuous before it blew.

Perhaps we will soon see a 26650 that can provide a true 6Ah at 10A discharge? A google search turns up a lot of hits, but none look legitimate.

Wait until he tests the NEW High Drain King!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ijoy INR 26650 which can be bought in this country by supposedly only One dealer,,,my hometown dealer!:D

^^^ Right, that's why I said "maybe". Since they are Shockli's official distributor, they'll probably stock the 5500mAh version too, but they will likely be expensive - just like the linked 5000mAh version.

I am attempting to do a LiFePo4 4x32650 5000mAhr (2P2S) 6C Maglite Mod (I already own the cells from a past ammo can 5/6/12V Power Pack project that have been replaced with 20Ahr Prismatics so I won't be taking a financial risk) If the dropout of the board and wiring is too high to give 6.13v at the 3xXHP50s and I'm not pleased with what power I do get, my fallback plan is to switch to some high end IMR26s or 32s instead. I hope we can get these in the US.

A fuse?! What a stupid idea... A cell is rendered garbage when it is still fully functional inside. With its projected price tag we could expect a properly working (recoverable) protective circuit.

Not really when you want something with very low resistance, that can prevent the cell from explode.
The other possibility would be a PTC, but it might add more resistance and they do not return exactly to the initial condition when triggered.

Electronic circuit makes the battery longer, is not good at high current* and also add some resistance.

*I am going to look at some batteries with an improved electronic circuit that is better at high current in the near future.
