Thread: Protected 18650's at a good price

Default Protected 18650's at a good price

Guys, I just need a couple of protected 18650's at a good price
for a couple of buddies of mine.

I'm scared to buy off ebay as I don't trust them and I just looked
at batteryjunction and boy was there a huge selection and price variation.

I DO prefer a button top to make sure it works ok so I guess
I may have to stick with 2600-2800 mAh capacity.

Can someone recommend one (linky please) for me?

    Thanks

    George

    Where do you live, George?

All of those places are good to go and will work if you're in America and Canada, potentially.

THanks bro but I was more looking for a recommendation of a battery more than where to buy.

These selections kinda confuse the hell out of me.

I want to get him something decent but affordable as he's a cheap skate.

I dont' remember what I had but I was happy with those.

    Thanks

What lights are they for, as that might make a difference?

For moderate ~5A drains, or less:

    http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index....product_id=599

    For high drain lights 10A+:

    http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index....product_id=289

    https://liionwholesale.com/collectio...nt=12530399684

Panasonic NCR-B and Samsung 26F in the first group, Sanyo-Panasonic NCR-GA and LG MJ1 in the second.

    Take your pick.

No idea what my newest light draws but collectively I can't see the current being higher than 4 18650's feeding can handle. Its running on older batteries I got together to make it work. All the same Samsung ICR18650-30B I had bought many years ago. Now I just received my order after a huge wait due to shipping issues. NCR1850B (both are protected cells). I looked for GA but finding protected was extremely difficult and when I did the price was a deal breaker.

These cells offer high capacity as well as protection and won't break the bank. Pretty easy to find on many sites.

Good luck, I don't recommend using NON protected cells period. Safety first as you can't outsmart the protection circuit thinking you can do better. You are just guessing if you over discharge them or not.

Ehhh, most modern lights have step down features, meaning that the light won't run on 'high' if the cells are at X, Y or Z voltage. That's a clue. Then there are lights with low voltage protection built into them, so the light will cut out at a safe voltage. Still, more lights are coming with voltage readouts, or signals, to tell you what voltage you're at, specifically.

Finally, if you get down to where a PCB is going to cut out anyway, just charge the cells back up when you get home.

Protection circuits aren't immune from failure.

Don't know them but shipping is a killer and some can't/don't ship LiIon cells to other countries!! I ordered extra cells this time and waited .... well since last Winter for them. I'd look at those @ 5$ US for 4 more if it was worth it. I doubt they're protected though. My big light has 12 emitters in the head.

The cells may not be immune to failure but then again neither am I. Just do the best I can.

PS: Found the ZebraLight listing I was right $5.99 = $6 US and ships to USA only!!! Not protected

Alright, sorry for taking so long but I couldn't find out what the flashlight is as he's tossed his box. I finally dug through my emails (from the vendor) and found it that way.

He has a Crelant V6CS if that helps.

    Thanks

The ZebralightZL65's are no longer on sale, you are correct about USA only, but they are protected cells. Where do you live? Someone on CPF may be able to reccomend a reputable seller that does ship there...
