This is one of the new formats for LiIon, this cell do not gain any extra capacity but can deliver a lot of current.

The discharge curves match perfectly and the capacity do not drop much at higher currents.

The cell gets hot at 30A, my log says 79°C

Conclusion

The cell is not a super cell, there ware limits to how much extra performance 2mm extra in diameter gets, but it is a very good high current cell (The next size up is 5mm longer and is better).

It is a very good cell, but do we really need this size (Check 21700)?

I can see this cell being used in power tool battery packs. But I am betting the 21700 and 20700 sizes will be more popular.

LG also has a 20650 cell available, the HG6

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...eat-true-30a-battery-but-only-2800mah.834503/

...In my testing it easily outperforms the excellent Sony VTC5A and runs cooler than the LG HB6. It is a great performing true 30A cell.

...Down to 3.2V the HG6 equals or beats by a little the Sanyo NCR20650A or iJoy 5-leg 20700. The Sanyo NCR20700A still beats all of them, but not by a lot.

...LG uses a cutoff voltage of 2.0V though for their capacity rating for this cell. If I ran them down to that level I think they would meet the 2900mAh minimum rating.
