I'm looking for a high powered flashlight I can put in my pocket. Relatively low profile.
It will need to have a strong beam, preferably 1000 lm or more.

Is there a flashlight which stands out for it's value for money and extra brightness?
I want to travel with this torch and take it with me most places I go.

Explain what is "low profile" for you.
Taking this requirement aside there's a perfect match: Emisar D4.

D4 as mentioned, little beefy but still compact compared to many 18650 fed lights...........

Other to throw in the mix, check zebralight out. Very compact and can pass your 1000lm target. Clever UI, great driver with quite a few choices in LED/colour temp to suit most.
On the left, sc63w which is a very nice 4500k xhp35,right is the D4 219c 5000k(super awesome UI with ramping, instant low/high etc).

Rough idea of D4 size(which depending on LED choice can see over 4000lm...........all be it short lived with heat, but who cares its awesome)

And D4 is available with 18350 tube for even smaller size. :)

Very true!! I had forgot completely.........As you may guess I don't have the 18350 and 18500 body . I am happy with the 18650 size as is, and the benefits of the larger fuel tank. As it eats 18650's fast enough on high outputs, I would probably need 10x 18350's with me . I certainly like compact lights for edc, although I do find lights too short not feeling natural in hand.

What exactly do mean by outstanding? A great floody near area light? A thrower that will reach out and touch something some ways away? A combination of the two? Just saying 1000 lumens doesn't tell us much. My EDC is a Nitecore EA11, and on a 14500 it will do 900 lumens, but not for very long, like 30 min. Its cousin, the EC11 will do about the same with a 18350. And that is with a claimed 190m. I hardly ever use it for more than 70 or 160 lumens, so it lasts much longer.

Because of the crazy advancement of high power LEDs, mainly from CREE, you have a ton of options. There are even pretty cheap but good options for 1-18650 lights that come with a battery and charger.
