Techie Question about 123\'s and PILA 168\'s

Question for you techies who know much more then I

How would 3 168's drive a MN60 or MN61 surefire lamp as compared to 4 123's

Thats the best I can figure to get close to the voltage.

Your numbers seem right. Should work fine. Perhaps the 168's will dim more than the 123's over time as they discharge, but you'll have to suck it and see I guess; unless someone has done lux/time tests on this combo.

Im not sure it's safe to run 3 Pilas in series. I remember this issue being bought up in CPF chat before, and Pila arent happy with folks running more than 2 at a time. Also, consider other things like voltage sag and internal resitance of the cells. Im sure the Pila values are different from CR123s.

Seems like a *mild* overdrive using 3 Li-Ions. Voltage sag should bring them down below 12V. Only way to tell is to try it. If I had those lamps, I would try it myself since the risk is low in my opinion. Let us know how it turns out if you do.
