Olight R18 Pro

Was looking at my local Olight dealer, where I saw this new light. No info (yet) on the Olight website, so am wondering does anyone know more?





Given specs are: Turbo (2100lm), High (1000lm), Med (320lm) and Low (80lm).
Micro-USB rechargeable, comes with 18650. IPX7. Cree XHP50.

Where did you get the photos?

The tailcap looks very similar to the M2R design with the addition of an a lanyard ring. I'm assuming USB charging based on the port cover and the clip looks reversible as well.

If its real I hope it is micro usb charging capable. While the Olight magnetic system works fine I just don't like to have to have but so many charging cables around.

Olight sometimes releases light exclusively at some countries/retailers, but they usually come available worldwide afterwards.

There are 2 versions available, R18 and R18 Pro.

For R18 Pro spec:

• Cree XHP50 CW LED
• 2,100 lumens
• 230 meter distance
• 3000mAH 18650 battery included
• Micro-USB recharging port
• IPX7

Modes:

• 2,100 -> 600 (0.5 + 140 minutes)
• 1,000 -> 600 (1.5 + 140 minutes)
• 320 (4 hours)
• 80 (18 hours)

R18 uses Cree XP-L Hi and smaller head.

With hi-tech MCUs these days, it would be easy to add a civilian mode with a lower low in their firmware. Other brands do it no problem. 80 lumens low (too high for many here on CPF) is going to cost them some customers.

See specs at 6:44. Another step back light :-(
First mode that won't step back is 320 lumens. Why they tend to not implement a mode that would not step back in a couple of minutes? In this case 600 lm seems to be that potential mode.

My daily outdoor activity (commuting with unicycle) lasts 30 mins to 1 hr. A light that outputs evenly for that long does not seem to be a mission impossible. I wonder why Olight builds lights with step-back modes instead of sustainable ones. Understand need for peeks but why that 600 (where 1000 lumen steps back to in 3 mins only) is not programmed as an option to choose. Why only 320 gives flat flux after being chosen?
