Hi
I'm new to the forum and have gotten a little wild with purchases lately . I had old jetbeams and aw18650 with a ultra fire charger. I picked up a few AA and AAA lights and eneloop battery's with the charger. So I bought a used acebeam K40vn , a X65vn and now a L30 vn with the USB port disabled.
I'm looking for a charger that will take the 20700 , i have used the search engine here and need some advice . Will the Opus BT 3100 or the MC 3000 work well for the 20700 ? Thanks Joe

The 20700 is still a 3.6/3.7 volt cell, so any good charger that can handle 26650 cells will be able to charge a 20700 cell with no problem. There are several very good charger threads in this Forum. Just put good LiIon charger in the search box in the banner, or go to HKJ's page - he has tested a great many chargers and has very comprehensive reviews posted.

I have recently got the OPUS BT-C3100 charger, I just put a 18650 panasonic a in it, there is definitely NOT another 5mm of space left on slider to accommodate a cell of 70mm long just to let you know.

My numbers are what I measured during the review. I do not have an Opus around to verify the size (I do have some typos), but when I have the Soshine 26650 cell in it, I now it supports more than 71mm (At the time I did the review, but I do not believe they would change the mold).

I just measured 2 18650 cells a unprotected SENYBOR at 67.36mm and a(PANASONIC ?) NCR18650B at 70.3mm, this is minus 1 bit of newspaper used as insulator as me vernier is metal, I was under the impression a 18650 is 18mm x 65mm, so now knowing things are not what they purport to be size wise a REAL 70mm will indeed fit, lets just hope the 20700 cells aren't 5mm longer there defo isn't room for that the negative tab really is right at the limit of the slider.
It's a ace charger been doing some capacity tests a NITECORE RCR123 of 650mah has 408mah!!, a OLIGHT RCR123 of 550mah had 558mah plenty unhappy with nitecore ha ha

I ordered the mlboxer c4-12 ,it lists the 20700 as one it takes , we shall see.

My 20700 cells fit fine in both my opus btc 3100 and c4-12, the latter i have recently got. I am very impressed with it so far, its been selecting 2.95 or 3a for my cells. I use to charge them at 2a on the opus bays 1+4 which is fine imo anyway. If you like the c4-12 1/2 as much as me, you will be happy!

Protected 20700 do not fit the miboxer C4-12 ! The Acebeam 4250mha protected 20700 is to long for the charger . The Sanyo ncr20700b fits , I may have to cut out the plastic in one bay so the slide can go back farther , it looks like it could work. Other than that the charger is great , it's nice to upgrade.

OK function over form ! Hot knifed bay 4 , it now fits but just by a little. Took an old steak knife and the map gas torch ,heated the tip and hot cut the back of the bay out . The plastic is over 1/8" thick and open after that . I only cut out enough so that the slide fits , there is a stop on the slide track so it won't come off . The acebeam 20700 4250 protected barely fits , it is charging now . The acebeam L30vn has the USB port disabled so a charger is needed .
I did not use a dremel tool as I feel the plastic shavings will gum up the slide , there is a slight amount of lube on the track . On a side note the NCR18650GA protected 3500 takes forever to fully charge ,about 8hr.

SkyRC MC3000 works great for charging 20700 cells with a minor modification

Hi

Sorry to be so late to the party, and Joe it seems you already have at least one solution to charging 20700 cells. I charge a 4250 mAh 20700 cell that came with my (wonderful!) Acebeam L30 flashlight using the (also wonderful) SkyRC MC3000 charger. The cell was just a bit long for the charger, so instead of trying to bend the sliding arm, I simply gave a mega-squeeze on the upper contact point "pimple" on arm #4. The smashed contact point feels rough now and holds the 20700 in place just fine.
