    Default Reborn Ti 005 Pictures

Received my titanium Spy 005 yesterday, so I thought I'd share some photos and comparison with an original 005 I have on loan.

Dave has done a fantastic job bringing back the 005 back in all titanium. All the aesthetic charm and class of the original, with all the refinement of a decade's work in the converter and of course a wonderful 5D tint XP-L HI in my example. The stonewashing is superb and silky to the touch, the heft of the titanium with the smooth curves is really a delight to hold and use. The o-ring groove around the soapdish is softer to the touch but holds an o-ring very well if desired.

Thanks for the photos, since very few pictures of these have been posted.

Especially interesting to see the design evolution, in comparison with the vintage version.

I really like the new stonewashed titanium, but I do miss the cool old logo(s) though ...

Just for reference, here was another nice photo of a different logo ...

Happy to share them, besides Dave's on the website I don't think I've seen any actual wild shots of one.

Hard to tell which differences are age or design refinement, but the Ti 005 has a much snugger (no side play) knob, and a nice bank vault tight lockup on the battery cap. The pin release stands a little proud of the surface, but it is fairly stiff so accidental activation is not going to happen. As I said previously the stonewashing really is superb, completely erased any evidence of machining which takes a good process as well as a good base machine finish to start with.

I have mixed feelings on the logo, on one hand they were pretty cool, but on the other hand the nice discrete Cool Fall engraved on the narrow side works well with the refined discrete lines the 005 has. The logo you linked and this one are my favorites of the ones tried I think.
Of course it looks like the Spy Trek might have such a logo on the tailcap if you've seen the previews.
