Surefire B65 battery life

Surefire B65 battery life.
Hi will 10 year old Surefire B65 batteries new sealed in package function as new. Will they hold a charge as a new batt?

Welcome to CPF.

After 10 years they probably won't perform as new, but there is a reasonable chance they will hold some charge. Several charge/discharge cycles will be needed to get them back into shape.

Agreed. NiCad batteries in general, and the B65 specifically, were not terribly impressive to begin with. NiCad chemistries don't usually age well, either. Having said that, it's worth a try to give a it a few charge/discharge cycles and see what happens, UNLESS you'd rather keep it as NIP and try to sell it off as a collectible (hey, there's all kinds of weirdos out there...we all qualify in some way or we woudn't be here). Since the 6R's extension tube is not super useful without the B65....if you have a 6R kit, it just might be worth a try. No guarantees without trying it, though...it's just too old.
