Thread: Use JW Speaker 8700 Evolution J2 as a sealed-beam replacement?

Default Use JW Speaker 8700 Evolution J2 as a sealed-beam replacement?

So, I'm seriously considering putting the 8700 Evo 2s in my Volvo 242, or, at least I was until I noticed that Amazon has a Prime-exclusive deal to get a pair of the 8700 Evo J2s for $399. At that cost, it seems almost worth adapting the wiring harness to drive the J2s rather than spending the extra to get the standard model.

So, is there anything different about the mounting/centering tabs/etc. that I should know, before I spend Big Money (TM) on headlights?

Physically they're the same. Electrically, they're not, in several ways, but I don't know if any of them would cause an incompatibility with a standard, non-PWM, non-Jeep electrical feed. I would guess it would work, but that's only a guess.

It's really tempting to buy and experiment, since it's only ~60 more for a pair of the J2s than for a single Evo2...

The J2 is also DRL compatible and dual burn.

Like Virgil, I think they should work....
