Default What ever happened to the 17650?

Does anyone even sell a 17650 cell any more. I recently tried to find one for the last G2 I purchased, but couldn't find one anywhere I looked. Now I know I didn't look everywhere, so I am asking for guidance.

I've seen them for sale at Battery Junction, if you're happy with Ultrafire, but I've been running the higher capacity 16650s in my G2s and similar with no problems.

Essentially eclipsed by the slimmer and more capable 16650 which fits more lights and brings higher capacity.

Hopefully tech for the 16650 improves some more. Imagine a true 2800mAh 16650 cell with hybrid chemistry, which will give options for those who want slimmer lights.

I have dreams of a small 219b O.P. reflector 4 speed twisty 16650 light w/mode memory in stainless steel.

I think you mean 17670? I have a few of these and still use them even if I later got a bunch of 16650s.

Also, it never really became a standardized size. 16650 works well if you want to use rechargeable cells in a light made for 2xCR123A. But a 17670 could be a little big. You may need to bore such a light out. And at that point, why not go 18650? Which brings us to another issue: a 17670 is only marginally smaller than the ubiquitous 18650. Why even bother when 18650 is CLEARLY a better option.
