I have just bought this headlamp & play it several days.
With 3 mode switching 1W, it will an killer if the runtime can be longer.
For 3xAAA alkanine cells say 1200mah, isnt it very inefficient that only 1 hour output for 1W? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
The efficiency of the convertor board seems below 50%...??
And anyone one have try measure the current drive from the cells?

My guess would be that the internal resistance of the AAA batteries is where most of the energy is going.

I don't have one of these, but does it really have regulation?
I had heard that the 'digital' regulation was your 'finger' pressing the button.

Here comes some photos for my Li-ion battery used in the Gentos Beam Changer

bat.jpg

1. A 1300ma 3.7V Li-on
2. Insert 3 cotton sticks (found in first-aid packs)
3. Another view from the (-) pole
4. Make the (+) pole like this
5. Put a little screw, this screw MUST have contact with the battery surface, which is (-)
6. Optional Spring to fill the space between the battery and the battery holder cap.

If you look at the Energizer curves you'll see that at 450mA (which is what my Argo drew with fresh Panasonic AAA alkalines) you're only getting a bit more than half an hour to 0.8V.

One of the more annoying things about the Argo is that it will deplete a set of batteries in 3-4 months without even turning it on. I measured the idle draw at 450µA (that's micro-amps if the µ didn't show properly).

Cheers,

Richard
