We've all fantasized about it; not all have experienced it. You know that special moment when your Flashaholic obsession is suddenly vindicated in the eyes of others as you come to their rescue in response to a plaintive "does anyone have a flashlight?" Or perhaps it's a "you call that a flashlight" moment as you trounce their Mag 4D with YOUR 2C modded with 4 123's and killer superbulb.
My latest Flashaholic moment occurred recently at a colleague's retirement party. After the usual speeches the gifts started, culminating in the presentation of a beautiful big sterling silver bowl with a dedication inscribed on its gleaming surface. I was standing right behind him with five or six others and everyone else was spread out across the room facing him. The entire room of about 70 people became absolutely quiet as we waited for him read the inscription. We waited….and waited …...and waited….I realized he was having trouble seeing the engraved words so, with a sudden quickening of my Flashaholic heart I reached into my right rear pocket, unclipped my E2E/McLux PR-T917, quickly tightened the LOTC and aimed an absolutely brilliant white beam onto the surface of the bowl. Seventy pleasantly shocked colleagues broke into wild laughter and enthusiastic applause.
It made my day.
