Pocketlights.com is now carrying the Princeton Tec Impact XL 1 watt 4AA LED and I'm curious to know how it compares with the UK4AA eLED which pocketlights also sells. The XL is pricier, yet does not seem to be regulated. Brighter perhaps?, but if so, how does it manage the heat in its plastic housing? I do like the looks of the molded black grips on top and bottom of the housing.

Recent posts have indicated that the Impact XL is not all that bright and perhaps not in the same class as the UK 4aa eLED. It sure looks nice, though.

I don't think anyone has complained that the 4AA eLED is all that bright, either. I have one, and I'm not overwhelmed by the brightness. If it gets close to its published 11-hour runtime, I'll be pleased.

I agree, I'm not overwhelmed by the brightness of the UK 4aa eLED either and I'm surprised that so many CPFer's like it as much as they do. I think of it as adequate and not much more. But from what I've heard, the PT Impact XL puts out even less light.

The saving grace of the UK is that it actually will maintain the same light level for about twelve hours.
